How does this relate to “corporate personhood”? When corporations are granted the
rights of persons, what does that mean for their responsibility? For our responsibility to
one another? How do our principles and our mission call us to respond? And what is at
stake?

Coming Out Sunday

National Coming Out Day was founded by Robert Eichberg and Jean O’Leary on October 11, 1988 in celebration of the second gay march in Washington D.C. a year earlier.  We have “come out” and it is important that we remain visible as a Welcoming Congregation, promoting government and public awareness of gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender rights and affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

The title phrase is from an infamous U. S. Supreme Court decision, which helps tell the tale of two 20th Century public figures.  In American national memory, one of them is mocked as a sanctimonious buffoon and the other is revered as among the wisest of jurists.  Does either one deserve his reputation?
